Olibanum - Black Hojari Resin

from $3.75

Black Hojari is sourced from the Boswellia Sacra tree and is particularly difficult to harvest as it requires a multitude of environmental circumstances such as temperature and moisture content to be precise in order to get its sweet, sugary notes prevalent, containing very fragile and unstable terpenes, this resin is almost never used in perfumery simply due to its difficulty in workability, containing a high level of solid gum resins and very little liquid state terpenes, this resin is specifically used to fragrance homes on coal…..however if you want your home to smell like a combination of a sugary candy store and an old wooden palace, this is the perfect fragrance for you! Almost eatable….( it is traditionally chewed and applied as its believed to combat oral infection but we don’t recommend it as this is just an ingredient, it will get stuck in your teeth in ways you couldn’t imagine and there is no medically sound research on the matter, if you’re interested in learning more about how it is used, we highly recommend it, but we do NOT recommend consumption!)

Scent Profile:

Top- Dates and sweet dark stone fruits

Middle- Balsamic Syrup

Base- Dark, Old wood and timber

Notes: Earth and smoke

Warmer instructions:

place a SMALL clump/spoonful (approx 0.5 grams) on the warmer, allow it to melt for 5 minutes, when the mixture has slightly melted and darkened in colour, use the wooden stick provided to stir the mixture, pinching any remaining resin, and sprinkling it back into the warmer. Stir once every 10-15 minutes for even fragrance distribution. Resins can burn and release scent for up to and in excess of 4-6 hours. When mixture is black/VERY dark and no longer acts like a sticky oil, and acts more like a dry stone, the mixture has come to the end of its life and can simply be collected and sprinkled into garden beds or flushed down the toilet.

Coal/traditional burning instructions :

Very carefully follow coal instructions and wait until the coal is completely ignited and has a thin, white coating of soot. ENSURE ADEQUATE VENTILATION, Take a VERY small amount of the mixture: approx 0.15G (for indoor use) and place onto coal using tweezers or a small, metal spoon. When mixture stops smoking and creates a black char on the coal, it has come to the end of its life and you may either repeat the above steps until coal is no longer ignited or simply wait for the coal to burn out.

ATTENTION:

PLEASE NOTE: Alpha one is created using absolutely no chemicals, additives, artificial binders, irritants or toxins. made out of PURE distilled resin oils, attars, resins, saps, stones, woods and flowers from the furthest parts of the earth, these blends are self preserving and naturally anti-microbial/antibacterial as long as they are handled correctly and not exposed to sunlight, high temps or cross contamination, these blends can last for years. Store in a cool, dry environment, always with the lid on. If possible, we recommend OPENING the jars at least once a month, in a clean area, and allowing them to stand for 5 minutes. This is to continue a process known simply as “curing” and will ensure the truest and purest fragrance experience possible for years to come.
